The Directors' Panel Discussion will provide a key overview of the role our government agencies can play in contributing to the public’s awareness and engage in a meaningful dialogue about climate change in our national parks and refuges. Peter Hildebrand, Deputy Director of the Sciences and Exploration Directorate at GSFC, Jon Jarvis, Director of NPS, and Jay Slack,  Director of the USFWS National Conservation Training Center will each present their agency's perspectives on climate change and suggest ways that we might best collaborate in our efforts.

The "Arrange for Change" Decision Tree training tutorial (work in progress):  This session provides a very brief introduction to a training
database being developed that will help front-line communicators with informal contacts at their sites. Based on questions already being asked by visitors at various locations across the country, this tool develops a range of possible responses to each question at three different levels along the interpretive continuum: a short basic response, more in-depth information or examples, and a more innovative or facilitated response using specific interpretive techniques that connect to intellectual or emotional meanings.

A scientist and interpreter is a rare find, however, Peter Griffith fits the description. A mixing bowl represents the thin layer of atmosphere around the Earth, a banana represents young and fast carbon. You will understand the carbon cycle, its role in climate change and how you can interpret to others after this engaging presentation.
